Eye lidsurgeryalso known as blepharoplasty, is an elective cosmetic surgical procedure that makes you look younger, more rested and alert.
Eyelid surgery can treat:
Loose or sagging skin that creates folds or hides the natural contour of the upper eyelids
Excess fat deposits that appear as puffiness in the upper eyelids
Bags under the eyes
Loose and wrinkled skin of lower eyelids
There are several different techniques for changing the appearance of eyes. For upper lid blepharoplasty an incision is given within the natural crease of the upper eyelid. For lower eyelid blepharoplasty an incision either just below the lower lash line or inside the lower eyelid is given. Using these incisions fat is removed or redistributed and muscle modified to correct the baggy eyelids in addition to removing excess loose skin.
Since the healing process is gradual, it takes several weeks to give you an accurate picture of the results. Incision scars will fade with time becoming barely visible. The results of eyelid surgery are usually long-lasting but may be affected by heredity and lifestyle factors.
Patients are usually happy with their appearance for many years following eyelid surgery but some patients find that they want to make additional improvements at a later time as ageing continues.
