Chemical peels diminish the imperfections of skin by peeling away the damaged top layers of skin, giving you a fresh look.
Peels are used to: –
make skin softer & brighter
aid in the control of acne
smooth rough dry skin
improve the texture of sun-damaged skin
Chemical peels vary according to their ingredients and their strength. e.g.-
Alpha hydroxy acid peels (AHA)
Beta hydroxy acid peels
Retinoic acid peel
Trichloroacetic acid peels (TCA)
Depending upon the patient’s requirement precise formula is used that may be a mix of chemicals adjusted to meet each patient’s need.
The peels can superficial or deep. Superficial peels are generally alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA) such as Glycolic, Lactic peels etc. Various concentrations of AHAs are applied weekly or at longer intervals to get the best result. TCA peel is stronger and has a greater depth of peeling as compared to AHAs. After the peeling session there can be temporary redness and exfoliation (flaking / scaling) however as the skin gets adjusted to the treatment regime these problems subside.
